WHAT I DO
“Work is love made visible. And if you cannot work with love but only with distaste, it is better that you should leave your work and sit at the gate of the temple and take alms of those who work with joy.”
― Kahlil Gibran
Grew up fascinated by technologies & still excited by anything with buttons or a screen.
I am hardwired for this technology world!
Holding a master degree in computer science, I currently work for a governmental research institution where I am in charge of the software development for the department of nanotechnoloy & electron microscopy.
In 2010, I started working for the Electron Microscopy service of a Belgian federal research institute.
My main interests are the adaptation & development of both image processing & statistical analysis software.
Put this way make it seems very complicated, while in fact it is & not!
In all cases, it is very interesting.
In brief, my work consist of developing application, modules & algorithms for image analysis & automation of image acquisition by the Transmission Electron Microscope.
In addition, I am in charge of the IT infrastructure of the department, be it backup procedures, network administration, image analyses, tomography & some sample preparation, while in free time I try to master the electron microscope advanced manipulation Techniques.
Call it impatience or overactive imagination, but I have always found it very tough to concentrate on just one topic.
"I have no special talents.
I am only passionately curious"
― Albert Einstein
Aside from the day to day life, I have a passion for photography. Visit the Gallery part to enjoy a trip from the Far East to America, passing through the Middle-East, north Africa & Europe.
I also enjoy playing chess, practice martial arts, do extensive traveling, enjoy electronics creation, furniture design, wood working, snowboarding & lately IOT & domotics.
"The best way to predict the future is to invent it."
― Alan Curtis Kay
In order to satisfy my extensive curiosity I try to learn about almost “everything”.
From psychology to computer science to photography to electronics & so on, which renders my projects very diverse.
For instance, in 2008 I developed interest for electronics, 6 month later, I have finished building from scratch my first radio controlled quad-copter.
I finally ended up creating & programming 3 of them.
After the drones project, I moved on developing an interactive dashboard for my motorbike that included a GPS, light sensor, gyroscope, temperature sensor, accelerometer and few other sensors.
At the moment I am working on re-designing my living room and realizing all the furniture in wood, mostly Padouk & Afrormosia.
well, like most of us I guess, I wish I had 20 lives so I can get with the projects @ hands.
